The Odds Are Good: You Know Someone Affected by Gambling Disorder

Gambling disorder affects millions of Americans, yet it remains largely hidden and misunderstood. As the only behavioral addiction formally recognized by leading medical and mental health organizations, its impact has surged with the rise of online gambling. For every individual diagnosed, at least two others—including family members, coworkers, or peers—experience gambling-related harm, such as financial strain, emotional distress, or relationship challenges.

Often called "the silent addiction," those struggling frequently suffer alone, unaware that help is available. This is especially concerning for youth and young adults, who face increased risks in today’s digital world. Even more alarming, people with gambling disorder have the highest suicide rate among those living with addiction.

We cannot afford to lose one more person to this disorder.
